KAREN PETIT BOOKS
Author
My love for writing grew from my love for reading as a child. I always wanted to be an author -- like the ones who had written all of those wonderful books that I loved to read. But it took an adopted dog named Ivy to help me find the stories that I was meant to write.
My books reflect my passion for pets. And while I love the idea that my books are "out there," it's vital with today's digital and online technologies that I have an accessible place where I can connect with a wider audience. Here you will find information about my books, a blog and my life as an author.

ABOUT ME
My Bio
I am a true "Carolina Girl"! I was born in North Carolina and grew up in South Carolina where I am proud to say that I attended public schools. I come a family of great storytellers, and I never tired of my grandparents' and parents' stories of their lives in small Southern towns. From the time I was a child, I wrote stories and poetry -- a love that my mother recognized could be turned into a career.
After graduating from the University of South Carolina College of Journalism, I began my career as a newspaper reporter and editor and eventually worked in advertising and public relations. But the desire to write a book -- a dream since childhood -- kept nagging at me. Even with my overactive imagination, I could not find the story or stories that I was meant to write.
The adoption of a dog named Ivy after a divorce led to the "Shandon's Ivy League" Mystery Series for young readers and ultimately to the "Lady Louise" Book Series for young children and other books as well. I am living my dream of being an author.
I am proof that It is never too late to pursue your passion in life!
